There is a special kind of energy backstage. While an audience sees finished looks and a polished presentation, the professionals behind the scenes are focused on preparation, timing, teamwork, and every small visual detail.
In 2021, ES Beauty Studio and ES Hair School were presented as official partners of the Person of the Year project. That collaboration reflects the connection I value between professional hairstyling, event production, and creative presentation.
Why Event Hair Requires a Different Mindset
A hairstyle for a live event must look right not only in a salon mirror but under lighting, through photography, and as the person moves. It needs to reflect the atmosphere of the production and remain presentable throughout the schedule.
Planning matters. Professionals consider the expected style, timing, available tools, hair texture, changes between appearances, and the effect of heat or humidity. A good plan allows creativity to happen without ignoring the practical demands of the event.
My Continuing Interest in Backstage Work
Fashion and event styling challenge me to think beyond one client appointment. I enjoy the relationship between hair, wardrobe, makeup, and the image the creative team wants to communicate.
This perspective also informs my teaching. Students benefit from understanding how professional decisions shift when they are working with models, cameras, and production deadlines instead of a conventional salon schedule.
A Moment in the Story of ES Hair School
Looking back on the Person of the Year project is a reminder that hair professionals can contribute to many kinds of creative work. The experience belongs to the larger story of ES Hair Studio and ES Hair School as projects that connect technical salon work with fashion, events, and professional development.
